1951 Land
Rover Series One 80" Chassis No. 16133879 Probably one of the best Series Ones in the country, this
early 80 inch basic model Land Rover was built just 3 years after the marque's initial launch at the Amsterdam Motor
Show of 1948. It left the Solihul factory in England already left hand drive for export to the Canadian
market and brought into the United States several years ago from British Columbia. Meticulously restored by the current owner over the last 11 years, the original motor was missing so a Land Rover 2.25 liter engine and transmission were rebuilt (with
help from Tony Kipling -owner of Old English Cars) for use in the vehicle. A new Land Rover Series III radiator
was fitted as per advice from the Series One Club in England for increased flow and structural integrity. Body panels were badly dented but frame and bulkhead were structurally sound
and needed minimal restoration work, with no need for welding or patching. The original wings were just too bad
to restore (but kept) and were replaced with new wings from Wadsworth Panels in England - made from the original Series One
dies aquired from Land Rover many years ago. New doors were hand built. All galvanizing
was removed and regalvanized and the body was professionally repainted in it's original Bronze Green. New body
fastners are all stainless steel. Canvas top and supports (hood and sticks) and the
new seats are accurate reproductions purchased from Exmoor Trim in England. The new wiring loom is new-old-stock
from Australia, as is the grille. Moss Motors supplied the new correct "D" style tail lamps. Here is a list of new parts used Leaf springs Woodhead
